USWNT’s Victory Against Vietnam: Woment World Cup 23Analysis And Reactions

USWNT’s Victory Against Vietnam 3-0 in their opening match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Sophia Smith and Lindsey Horan provided the goals for USA in their 3-0 win against Vietnam. The game was played on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

The USWNT’s Victory Against Vietnam is a won of their opening match against Vietnam 3-0, but some fans were not impressed with the team’s performance. Despite the win, some fans felt that the team’s play patterns didn’t blend well and that they need to perform better in the next game. One fan commented on how the team found it hard to defeat a low-ranked opposition and wanted them to perform better. Another fan explained the difficulty in blending the older players with the younger generation. However, other fans were happy with the win and confident that the team will do better going forward.

There are several American sources that have analyzed the USWNT’s Victory Against Vietnam. For example, ESPN has a game analysis of the match. You can also find analysis and commentary from USA Today and The Washington Post.

According to The Washington Post, the USWNT beat Vietnam 3-0 to open Group E play at the women’s World Cup, but will face a fresh set of challenges against the Netherlands. The article suggests that the USWNT is judged by its past successes and accomplishments, and when they drew Vietnam for the opener, the assumption was that this was going to be another blowout like that 13-0 game against Thailand four years ago. However, that comparison was never accurate. The game has changed over the last four years, the gap narrowing between developing teams and the world’s best. A team like Vietnam might still not be able to beat a USWNT, but it can make things difficult.

USA Today also analyzed the game and mentioned that while Sophia Smith had two goals and an assist in her first World Cup game, Lindsey Horan had a highlight reel’s worth of sick passes, and a roster full of newcomers got a much-needed dose of confidence, it’s hard to question the result. However, this is the United States women’s national team. Leave goals out on the field, as the USWNT did several times over in their 3-0 win against Vietnam on Saturday (Friday night in the U.S.), and those watching are going to be picky. The good thing is, the USWNT isn’t satisfied, either. Happy with the win and the three points that go with it, of course. But aware it has to do better going forward —like, say, starting Thursday (Wednesday night in the U.S.) with the 2019 World Cup final rematch against the Netherlands — and confident they will.

Don: I recently watched the US Women’s National Team play against Vietnam. Despite their victory, some critics have said that the American women’s team didn’t perform well. Simo Idrissi, what’s your technical opinion on this?

Simo Idrissi: Thank you for having me, Don, and for providing SCPPNews platform where we can discuss and share our thoughts on soccer. As I mentioned in one of my previous SCPPNews articles, I believed that the American team would outperform the Vietnamese’s women national team, and this was no coincidence. There are several factors that come into play when evaluating a team’s performance, starting with the game’s cultures and traditions. If the team units are balanced, then the team is more likely to win. This has been known since the beginning of soccer. We don’t rely on individual star players, but rather on teamwork, which requires consistency and balance in the lines I will give you an example, Ronaldo with Portigal and Messi with Aegentina these two stars performed in two styles Portugal had less balances units and even Ronalso is a star could give anything in other hand Messi is a start and the Argintinal finally got balanced units and won the world cup Qatar 2022. That’s why we don’t base our evaluation of future matches solely on our observations of a single game. The US women national team demonstrated great strength, cohesion, and control during their game against Vietnam, particularly in their successful execution of their patterns to penetrate into the final third. This was no coincidence, but rather the result of hard work by both the technical staff and players. The quality of their performance in future games will depend on how they adapt to changes in all dimensions that were used in the Vietnam game. The fact that the players remain on the team does not mean that their playing style will remain unchanged, as changes to systems of play and styles of play occur in every match. The important thing is that the US women national team USWNT achieved an excellent result and performed well. As for any weaknesses that may have been observed, I believe that the technical staff has taken note and will make necessary adjustments. No team enters a game without making mistakes. It is important to understand that games have both strength and weaknesses moments or sides, but it is the team that makes fewer mistakes that ultimately prevails.

Don: I remember you sharing your optimistic view of the US women national team with us and saying that they strong enough to beat Vietnam. How did you know they would come out on top in their game against Vietnam?

Simo Idrissi: While surprises are always possible in soccer, it was unlikely for the US women nation team to lose against the Vietnamese women national team. Now the USWNT’s Victory Against Vietnam and I can speak freely. My extensive experience has taught me how to evaluate individual players and teams on the field. I understand the differences between individuals and teams, as well as how teams represent their respective countries’ local championships. The US women national team is strong in this world cup 2023, but there are other strong teams as well. We should not judge a team’s performance based solely on games that has not yet been played. For instance, I can watch just the first ten minutes of any game and determine its value because a coach must be able to evaluate live performance simultaneously. My experience watching both US women’s and men’s national teams’ games, as well as professional and semi-professional games, has given me insight into American soccer’s strengths and weaknesses. I am also grateful to the United States Soccer Federation and National Coaches Soccer Association for providing us with the correct information to develop our knowledge in soccer game, which has helped me better understand American soccer philosophy.
